  Miss India Worldwide, Canada 2004
 
 
 
The first ever Miss India Worldwide, Canada pageant will be taking place on April 24, 2004 at Payal Banquet Halls in Mississauga at 6:00pm SHARP. The pageant will be featuring contestants from all across Canada competing for the most prestigious title. The chosen winner will be going to India to compete in the only International South Asian Pageant in the world, the finals of the Miss India Worldwide Pageant. She will represent Canada among other contestants from around the world.
The show is packed with entertainment, featuring Canada's top South Asian singers, Sanjana, Chhaya, and Ritu with backup dancers. The show includes dinner for the evening.   Sitar and Vocal performance by Ustad Irshad Khan  
 
 
The Hindustani Sangeet Mandal of Ottawa presents a concert by Ustad Irshad Khan. Irshad Khan is internationally recognized as one of the leading sitar and surbahar (bass sitar) players of his generation. This promises to be an excellent concert as it is a blend of pure classical and light classical North Indian music. Tickets are $20 and available at the door. The concert begins at 6:30.

  2004 Kesri Youth Awards  
 
 
Building on the success of previous banquets that have had over 900 attendees, this gala dinner has become the premier event in the community to honour and showcase the achievements of South Asian Youth in Ontario. The Kesri Ribbon Project* is hosting its 6th annual Youth Awards at Payal Banquet halls, 3410 Semenyk Court, Mississauga on May 28, 2004 at 7:00 pm. Kesri is taking the initiative to celebrate the achievements of those in the South Asian community making a difference. This year we are calling in nominations in the categories of Academics, Arts, Athletics, Leadership, Business, Community Service and Humanitarian. Nominees must be residents of Ontario and between the ages of 15-24. For nomination criteria please visit www.kesri.org. Nomination deadline is April 15th, 2004.
